Washington, D.C. – Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) will be hosting a Senior Seminar on Thursday, November 10, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (C.S.T.) at the North Platte Senior Center (901 East 10th Street) in North Platte, NE. The seminar will provide important information on the Medicare open enrollment period which runs through December 7th.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Adrian Smith (NE-3) today joined other members of Congress for the annual ‘Holiday Mail for Heroes’ card signing to show support for American military personnel, veterans, and their families this holiday season. Smith’s offices in Scottsbluff and Grand Island again will serve as collection points for constituents to drop off postage-free cards.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) today announced his office will host a training workshop for constituents interested in volunteering to record veterans’ stories for the Library of Congress. The training session will be held on Thursday, November 17 at the Grand Island Public Library (211 North Washington Street, Grand Island). The session is scheduled to run from 5:30PM to 8:00PM CST.

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) today voted in favor of H.R. 674 to permanently repeal a 3 percent withholding tax on payments made to vendors by government entities. H.R. 674, which Smith joined more than 260 members in cosponsoring, passed with broad bipartisan support and repeals an onerous withholding tax which would affect millions of U.S. businesses.

Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) today reminded Nebraska’s seniors about the “open season” for Medicare’s prescription drug program, or Part D. Open season, which runs from October 15 to December 7, allows seniors to switch their current Part D prescription plan, or to enroll in the program if they are eligible. Even for those happy with their current coverage, it is advisable to double-check the coverage will continue to be offered as plans are occasionally subject to change.
