Smith Statement On The 70th Anniversary Of The Attack On Pearl Harbor

December 7, 2011

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE), chairman of the Congressional Rural Veterans Caucus, today released the following statement commemorating the December 7, 1941 attack on the U.S. Naval Base at Pearl Harbor:

“Seventy years ago today, the course of history changed forever,” said Smith, whose grandfather served in the Pacific during World War II. “We must never forget those who perished in the unprovoked attack on Pearl Harbor. More than 16 million Americans answered the call of duty during World War II and it is because of their brave and heroic service we remember them today as the Greatest Generation.”
