August’s Consumer Price Index shows inflation continues to rise. Prices for consumer goods have risen across the board – especially necessities like food and shelter.
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) introduced the Providing Choice for Social Security Retirees Act (H.R. 3899) this week. The bill would provide seniors who choose to delay claiming Social Security benefits beyond their full retirement age the opportunity to receive 25% of their earned credit as an upfront lump sum payment.

This would be an important first step toward rectifying our financial situation because we have a long road ahead if we intend to pay back the more than $21 trillion in debt we currently owe.
