Smith Statement On Passage Of REINS Act
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) today issued the following statement after passage of the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act in the U.S. House of Representatives:
“Nebraskans understand improving our economy depends on job creators, not regulators,” said Smith. “At a time of record unemployment, we need to remove unnecessary barriers to private sector job growth. The REINS Act represents commonsense reform which will increase oversight, improve the regulatory process, and help provide certainty to job creators.”
Smith is a cosponsor of the REINS Act (H.R. 10), which passed the House of Representatives with a bipartisan vote of 241-184. The REINS Act would require major regulations to be approved by a stand-alone vote in Congress and signed by the President before they are enforced. The REINS Act is part of Republicans’ Pledge to America and a key part of the Republican Plan for America’s Job Creators.
