Mr. Speaker, I rise today to offer my condolences and thoughts to Nebraskans impacted by recent severe fires and recognize the extraordinary response of emergency personnel across the Third District of Nebraska.

Washington, D.C. – Rep. Adrian Smith (R-NE), released the following statement in response to the Supreme Court's 9-0 decision in Trump v. Anderson:

“I am glad to see today’s unanimous Supreme Court’s ruling protecting ballot access. As argued by the amicus brief I joined nearly 200 colleagues in sending to the Court in January, our elections should be decided by the American people through our constitutional process, not unilaterally by unelected officials.”

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) invites high school students from across Nebraska’s Third District to submit their artwork for the 2024 Congressional Art Competition by Friday, March 22nd.

“The Congressional Art Competition is an annual opportunity for young Nebraskans to showcase their artistic talents to U.S.Capitol visitors from around the country and world,” Smith said. “I look forward to partnering with the Nebraska Art Teachers Association to review this year’s submissions.”

Pete Ricketts (R-NE) introduced legislation to designate the Postal Service building in Lexington, NE as the “Bill Barrett Post Office Building” in honor of the former Third District Congressman who passed away in 2016. “I continue to track conditions and response to wildfires in Lincoln, Custer, and Logan Counties. I commend Governor Pillen for his action to declare a state of emergency and mobilize National Guard resources. I also thank the Nebraska State Patrol and local responders for their efforts to ensure the safety of Nebraskans and bring the fires under control. I encourage local residents to remain alert and follow advisement from emergency management officials.”
