Smith serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means which has jurisdiction over tax policy and will lead efforts for comprehensive tax reform in 2013.

The team is the first from Nebraska to ever qualify for the Little League World Series. They will play the Southeast champions from Goodlettsville, Tennessee on Thursday, August 16, 2012.
