In Tuesday's State of the Union Speech, President Barack Obama called for a new minimum tax on multi-national American companies. The move perplexed Nebraska's Congressional delegation, which was seated together for the speech. Smith said that in effect, the president has asked Congress to exchange loopholes he doesn't like for new ones that he does.

Chadron and Alliance will host community forums on the VA's proposal to close its Hot Springs facility Friday at 1 and 5 p.m. respectively. These meetings are being hosted in response to Rep.Smith's request to the acting director of the VA Black Hills Health Care System, Steve DiStasio, calling for an additional public meeting to address the VA proposal.

Congressman Adrian Smith says a proposed closure of the VA hospital in Hot Springs would have a detrimental effect on thousands of veterans. He says veterans already have limited access to health care.

The Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute's Angels in Adoption initiative provides Members of Congress the opportunity to honor an individual or entity from their district which has made an extraordinary contribution on behalf of children in need of homes.
