Washington, DC – Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) will host his annual Academy Day event on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the Grand Island Army Aviation Support Center. The event will take place from 10am to 2pm and will feature representatives from each U.S. Service Academy and various ROTC programs.
Nebraska has always had a rich tradition of service. Each year, young men and women from the Third District attend our nation’s prestigious Service Academies. These institutions provide a first-rate education and unmatched opportunities for young people looking to achieve their highest potential in education and service.
Washington, DC – Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) today announced the winning artists of the 2012 Congressional Art Competition: An Artistic Discovery. Smith worked with the Nebraska Art Teachers Association to coordinate the competition.
“The future of Nebraska’s young artists is bright,” said Smith. “I am proud of the hard work of these exceptional students as well as their teachers. It is a great achievement on their part to have their artwork on display.”

Jack Anderson, son of Scott and Michael Ann Anderson, is a senior at Kearney High School in Kearney. He has been nominated to the U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, Colorado, and the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland.
