In Congress, and especially through my role on the Ways and Means Committee, I want to create new opportunity and attract greater investment in our state for today's and tomorrow's generation of families, business leaders, and entrepreneurs. Washington, D.C. – Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) today announced the winners of the 2019 Congressional Art Competition for the Third District of Nebraska.

Artwork by the first place winner will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol. The runners-up will have their art displayed in Rep. Smith's Washington, D.C., Grand Island, and Scottsbluff offices. Smith worked with the Nebraska Art Teachers Association to coordinate the competition.

Smith Introduces Bill to Remove Criminal Penalties from American Community Survey

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) introduced legislation yesterday (H.R. 2392) to make participation in the American Community Survey voluntary, repealing criminal penalties for Americans who choose not to respond to the survey.

The American Community Survey was created after the 2000 census to replace the long form questionnaire. The survey is sent to more than 3 million Americans annually, and requests personal information about housing, transportation, health status, employment history, income, and other topics.

When Americans think of retirement, the first thing which comes to mind is often Social Security and the second is often its solvency. The program has remained largely unchanged since it was created in 1935. American workers and employers pay a payroll tax into Social Security, and when those Americans reach retirement age they are eligible for benefits based on what they paid in over their working lives.

Washington, D.C. – Constituents of Third District Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) are invited to meet with a representative of his office at mobile offices throughout the month of May in Trenton, Minden, Holdrege, Tryon, Niobrara, Ponca, Hartington, Stapleton, Cozad, South Sioux City, and Hebron.

At mobile offices, Third District residents can meet with one of Smith's staff members who can assist with federal agencies, like FEMA or the USDA, relay concerns about federal issues, or assist in taking advantage of the services available through his office.
