WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Reps. Adrian Smith (R-NE-3), Terri Sewell (D-AL-07), Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA-05), and Dave Loebsack (D-IA-2) introduced the Rural Health Clinic Modernization Act. This legislation provides regulatory relief for Rural Health Clinics (RHCs) and updates Medicare reimbursements to independent RHCs.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) spoke today in the House of Representatives before voting in support of H.R. 2157, the Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2019, to provide additional assistance to disaster areas, including the March 2019 "bomb cyclone" which struck Nebraska. The legislation passed the House by a vote of 257-150, and now moves to the Senate.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) today announced the winners of the 2019 Congressional Art Competition for the Third District of Nebraska.
Artwork by the first place winner will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol. The runners-up will have their art displayed in Rep. Smith's Washington, D.C., Grand Island, and Scottsbluff offices. Smith worked with the Nebraska Art Teachers Association to coordinate the competition.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) introduced legislation yesterday (H.R. 2392) to make participation in the American Community Survey voluntary, repealing criminal penalties for Americans who choose not to respond to the survey.
The American Community Survey was created after the 2000 census to replace the long form questionnaire. The survey is sent to more than 3 million Americans annually, and requests personal information about housing, transportation, health status, employment history, income, and other topics.

When Americans think of retirement, the first thing which comes to mind is often Social Security and the second is often its solvency. The program has remained largely unchanged since it was created in 1935. American workers and employers pay a payroll tax into Social Security, and when those Americans reach retirement age they are eligible for benefits based on what they paid in over their working lives.
