Across our nation, 2020 has been a year of upheaval. Since March, our lives have been drastically different as we have stayed home, worked remotely, and avoided gathering in large groups to help protect the health and safety of our most vulnerable populations. We have taken extraordinary steps in our personal, professional, and social lives in order to slow the spread of COVID-19.
For the past few months, the focus in Congress has been COVID-19 relief and recovery. While we have all adapted to the current reality, we must keep our focus on bringing an end to this pandemic and resuming our daily lives as the situation allows. Several times now, the House of Representatives has returned to Washington to vote, and on May 27, for the first time since the beginning of March, the Ways and Means Committee held a hearing.

He is an original cosponsor of the bill, along with representatives from Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri. The legislation would establish a Lower Missouri River Flood Prevention Program to improve flood prevention on the Missouri River from Sioux City, IA, to its confluence with the Mississippi River.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Adrian Smith released the following statement after opposing two bills today, H.R. 6800 and H.Res. 965. Both bills passed the House of Representatives on party-line votes.
H.R. 6800, Speaker Pelosi's so-called COVID-19 response bill spends would spend $3 trillion and will not be considered by the Senate. H.Res. 965 would allow proxy voting in the House of Representatives for the first time, breaking more than 225 years of precedent.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) today announced the winners of the 2020 Congressional Art Competition for the Third District of Nebraska.
Artwork by the first place winner will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol. The runners-up will have their art displayed in Rep. Smith's Washington, D.C., Grand Island, and Scottsbluff offices. Smith worked with the Nebraska Art Teachers Association to coordinate the competition.
