This January marks the 75th anniversary of the Auschwitz liberation during the closing months of World War II in Europe. In the wake of World War II and the horrors of the Holocaust, the modern state of Israel was born. Since then, the mottos of "never again" and "never forget" have signified we know the dangers of anti-Semitism and we must always fight against it. However, recently we have seen a frightening trend of threats to Israel and rising anti-Semitism.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) is currently accepting nomination packets for nomination to the U.S. Military Academy (West Point, New York), U.S. Naval Academy (Annapolis, Maryland), U.S. Air Force Academy (Colorado Spring, Colorado), U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (Kings Point, New York), and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (New London, Connecticut).
As the strongest democracy in the Middle East, Israel is a special partner and crucial ally to the United States. Together we collaborate on defense, intelligence, and trade. In fact, President Reagan signed our country's first trade agreement with Israel in 1985.
With July upon us, we are now more than halfway through the first year of the 116th Congress. So far 2019 has been marked by partisan divides which have stood in the way of results.
There is much work to do to solve our nation's challenges. Instead of focusing on impeachment or forcing the President to release his tax returns, Congress should be working on efforts to ratify the United States–Mexico–Canada Agreement (USMCA), lower health care costs, and rein in our debt.
Our borders reflect the history, geography, and sovereignty of our nation. We monitor and defend them for a number of reasons, including the protection of American citizens from illegal drugs and individuals who would do us harm. The United States is a nation of laws, applied broadly and evenly, with no person outside their reach. If any of us break the law, we face consequences. Our society and legal system rely on these consequences to discourage widespread crime.
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) announced today his nomination of 12 students to the U.S. service academies for the class beginning in the fall of 2019.
Members of Congress have the privilege of nominating young people for admission to the U.S. service academies, which include the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
