Smith Welcomes Law Enforcement Official to State of the Union Address
Washington, D.C.– Rep. Adrian Smith (R-NE) announced Scotts Bluff County Sheriff Mark L. Overman as his distinguished guest at this year’s State of the Union address.
“Nebraska’s Third District communities are better and safer places to live because of the dedicated work of our law enforcement officers,” said Rep. Smith. “A key pillar of our Commitment to America agenda is a nation that is safe, and Sheriff Overman has led his department with exemplary vigilance and care for community residents for more than a decade. He is a good friend, and I am honored he accepted my invitation to be my State of the Union guest.”
A longtime resident of Scotts Bluff County, Sheriff Overman received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement Administration from Chadron State College. Prior to his election as County Sheriff in 2010, he served with the Scottsbluff Police Department for nearly 32 years, 27 of which were as a detective.
