Smith Votes to Send Obamacare Repeal, Planned Parenthood Defunding to President’s Desk

Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) released the following statement today after voting in favor of H.R. 3762, the Restoring Americans’ Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act.

“Today, for the first time, Congress is finally sending an Obamacare repeal bill to the President’s desk,” Smith said. “President Obama’s health care takeover is failing, and he must now take direct responsibility by deciding whether he will listen to the American people or continue forcing them to shoulder the consequences of his broken law.

“In addition to repealing Obamacare’s core mandates and taxes, the bill passed by the House today defunds Planned Parenthood and redirects these tax dollars to other community health providers. This vote to defend life and put a stop to Obamacare’s regulatory burdens paves the way for patient-centered alternatives which lower costs and provide better access to quality care for all Americans.”
