Smith Votes Against Spending Bill

January 15, 2014

Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) today voted against the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2014. The legislation would fund the federal government at levels set by the Murray-Ryan Budget, which Congressman Smith voted against in December.

“Although the spending bill passed by the House today contains a number of worthy policy provisions, it does little to address deficits and debt which remain our greatest national challenges,” said Smith.

“While there are certainly better ways to cut spending than the sequester, delaying previously agreed to spending limits would take away an opportunity to pursue needed reforms to entitlement and other programs. Moving forward, I will continue fighting to rein in out-of-control spending, balance the budget, and pay down our debt.”
