Smith Statement on U.S. Hitting Debt Ceiling

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) issued the following reaction to the U.S. government reaching the $14.3 trillion debt ceiling:

"Reaching the debt limit is another indicator Washington's spending spree is beyond what we can afford. Simply increasing the debt limit without steps to rein in spending is irresponsible and not what Nebraskans deserve. I hope we can work together to demonstrate the leadership needed to enact significant reductions in spending and serious budget reforms."
