Smith Statement on Release of House Republicans' Tax Reform Blueprint

June 24, 2016

Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) released the following statement today after House Republicans released their blueprint for comprehensive tax reform.

“Americans are fed up with our broken tax system and its endless complexities which make it easier for people to cheat than to comply,” Smith said. “The tax reform blueprint released today is the start of the conversation on how to achieve a simpler, fairer, and flatter tax code to help people keep more of their hard-earned money and encourage economic growth and investment in America.

“The blueprint calls for crucial reforms such as repealing the death tax, dramatically reducing the paperwork required for individuals and families to file their taxes, and restructuring the IRS to make service its first priority. As this effort moves forward, I hope Nebraskans will provide feedback so we can work together toward a better tax code and more opportunity for all.”
