Smith Statement on Keystone XL Pipeline Study

Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) issued the following statement after the State Department released its final environmental impact study on the proposed Keystone XL pipeline. The final study concluded the pipeline would pose minimal environmental risk.

“The State Department has once again confirmed the Keystone pipeline would be safe and in the best interest of our nation. Protecting the natural resources of Nebraska and our nation has always been a key factor in considering this project. With today’s technology, we can transport energy safely while protecting our environment.

“With the environmental review now complete, it’s time to move forward with this project which would improve our energy security, create jobs, and spur economic growth.

“I encourage the President to follow the science and facts, and approve this project.”
