Smith Statement on Anniversary of the Attack on Pearl Harbor

December 7, 2010

WASHINGTON, DC- Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) today released the following statement commemorating the December 7, 1941 attack on the U.S. Naval Base Pearl Harbor:

"As Americans joined together in the days following the attack on Pearl Harbor, we must continue to live up to the spirit of courage of the 16 million Americans who served during World War II.

"The world has changed since 1941. The enemies of freedom now know no borders and have shown a willingness to attack civilians, allies, and even our computer networks. As then, though, our commitment to protecting democracy and freedom is resolute," Smith said.
