Smith Reminds Seniors of Medicare Prescription Drug Plan Open Season
Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) today reminded Nebraska’s seniors about the “open season” for Medicare’s prescription drug program, or Part D. Open season, which runs from October 15 to December 7, allows seniors to switch their current Part D prescription plan, or to enroll in the program if they are eligible. Even for those happy with their current coverage, it is advisable to double-check the coverage will continue to be offered as plans are occasionally subject to change.
“For rural areas with an aging population – like the Third District of Nebraska – Medicare-provided prescription drug coverage is very beneficial,” Smith said. “As a member of the Ways and Means Committee, which has jurisdiction over Medicare, I want to make sure Nebraskans have access to the best information available.”
If seniors have questions about Medicare prescription drug coverage, they are encouraged to visit https://www.medicare.gov, call 1-800-Medicare, or contact Smith’s Grand Island office at (308) 384-3900.
