Smith Receives U.S. Chamber "Spirit of Enterprise" Award
Washington, D.C. – The United States Chamber of Commerce today presented Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) with its "Spirit of Enterprise" award for his support of policies which encourage job creation and economic growth. Smith has received the award for four consecutive years.
"Until government stops being an obstacle to job creation, our economic recovery will continue to be held back," said Smith. "It is vital Congress creates an environment where small businesses can harness our country’s entrepreneurial spirit and become the engine of economic growth."
The U.S. Chamber’s award is given annually to Members of Congress based on their votes on key business development issues. The Chamber is the world’s largest business federation representing more than three million businesses of every size, sector, and region. Smith and the U.S. Chamber have worked together on a range of issues including international trade, energy independence, and tax reform.
"There is a lot of work left to do in the 112th Congress to support free enterprise for our small businesses," Smith commented. "We must continue working to reduce government spending, repeal ObamaCare, and open new markets for American goods and services."
Smith sits on the Committee on Ways and Means which enables him to serve Nebraskans through engagement on critical job creation issues including trade agreements, tax reform, and health care reform.
