Smith Receives "Defender of Liberty" Award
Washington, D.C. - The American Conservative Union (ACU) today presented Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) with its "Defender of Liberty" award for his consistent commitment to conservative principles on a variety of issues.
"This award reflects the common-sense ideas of lower taxes, smaller government, less spending, and individual responsibility held by Nebraskans across the Third District," Smith said. "A renewed embrace of the timeless principles on which our nation was built will be critical as we work together to continue solving the problems our nation faces."
The "Defender of Liberty" award is in recognition of Smith receiving a 100 percent ACU rating for 2010. ACU was founded in 1964 to promote principles of liberty and the strength of the Constitution.
Smith sits on the Committee on Ways and Means which enables him to serve Nebraskans through engagement on critical issues including trade agreements, tax reform, and health care reform.
