Smith: Pro-Growth Agenda Top Priority In 2012

January 17, 2012

Washington, D.C.Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) today issued the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives gaveled in the Second Session of the 112th Congress:

“For the last year we have taken critical first steps to get our fiscal house in order and promote economic growth, but much more work remains,” Smith said. “Continuing to cut wasteful spending, reducing regulatory burdens on job creators, expanding trade, and comprehensive tax reform must be priorities of a pro-growth agenda this year in the House. These are the priorities of Nebraskans and the American people. They cannot continue to fall victim to partisan political gridlock.

“Many have predicted Congress will be too consumed with November’s elections to accomplish anything significant,” added Smith. “Nebraskans cannot wait until next year. You deserve for us to do our job, and do it right now, to create a climate which fosters economic growth. I stand ready to do just that.”
