Smith: President Obama’s Budget Kicks the Hard Choices Down the Road

February 13, 2012

Washington, DC – Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) released the following statement after the White House released its budget blueprint for Fiscal Year 2013:

“With this budget proposal, the President has regrettably decided he is not going to be a part of the solution to our nation’s debt crisis,” said Smith. “President Obama’s budget would continue fueling uncertainty for job creators by imposing a $1.9 trillion tax hike while adding $11 trillion to the national debt.

“Recycling the same tax, borrow, and spend policies of the past is not the way to grow our economy. In fact, many of these are the same proposals from last year’s White House budget which failed to get a single vote in the Senate.

“We need a proactive budget built to promote fiscal responsibility and future prosperity – not another political document which kicks the hard choices down the road. I will continue working with members from both parties to advance bold solutions, get our economy back on track, and ensure future generations have a shot at the American Dream.”
