Smith Announces Staff Changes for 113th Congress

Monica Jirik has been promoted to Chief of Staff. Jirik has served as Congressman Smith’s Deputy Chief of Staff and Legislative Director since 2007.

Joshua Jackson has been promoted to Legislative Director. Jackson has served as Congressman Smith’s Senior Legislative Assistant since 2008. In his new role, Jackson will assist in the development of policy positions and legislative initiatives, as well as managing and supervising Smith’s legislative staff.

Jena Hoehne will now serve as the Director of Outreach and Strategic Planning. Hoehne, a North Platte native and graduate of Creighton University, has served as Congressman Smith’s Executive Assistant and Director of Strategic Planning in Washington, D.C., since 2007. In her new role, Hoehne will be based in Nebraska and will manage outreach initiatives and staff. She continues to be responsible for the Congressman’s Nebraska schedule.

Andrew LaGrone has been hired to serve as the Staff Assistant in the Washington, D.C. office. LaGrone is a native of Omaha and a recent graduate of the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. As the Staff Assistant, LaGrone will greet visitors to the Washington, D.C. office, arrange tours of the U.S. Capitol and be responsible for other administrative duties.
