ICYMI: Smith Receives NAM Award for Commitment to Nebraska Manufacturing

March 16, 2015

On Thursday, March 12, Representative Adrian Smith (R-NE) received the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence at an event hosted by NAM member Reinke Manufacturing Company, Inc., in Deshler, Nebraska.

“Nebraska’s Third District is the number one agriculture district in the nation, and manufacturing plays a key role in achieving this level of production and success,” said Congressman Smith. “With more than 96,000 Nebraskans working in manufacturing, it also drives job creation and supports our rural economy. I will continue to pursue policies in Congress which remove red tape and expand export opportunities for Nebraska’s manufacturers.”

“It is an honor to present this award to Representative Adrian Smith, as a way of recognizing his commitment to manufacturing in the state of Nebraska and across the country,” said Chris Roth, president, Reinke Manufacturing Company, Inc.

“Manufacturing in Nebraska and across the country is making a comeback,” said NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons. “Manufacturers are growing the economy and creating high-paying jobs in a sector that adds $1.32 to the economy for every $1 spent. Representative Smith understands that leaders in Washington must advance policies that will continue to fuel this economic growth and has consistently supported manufacturers through his votes in Congress.”

The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) is the largest manufacturing association in the United States, representing small and large manufacturers in every industrial sector and in all 50 states. Manufacturing employs more than 12 million men and women and contributes $2.08 trillion to the U.S. economy annually.
