Delivering Results for Nebraska
As Congress begins its August work period, I’m looking forward to being back home meeting with Nebraskans across the Third District. As I prepare for my travels, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on my work for you over the past several months.
Every vote I cast and every bill I introduce is guided by a simple goal: making Nebraska an even better place to live, work, and raise a family. Whether it’s supporting agriculture, expanding access to healthcare, or strengthening opportunities for working families, I’ve worked to ensure that Nebraska’s priorities are at the forefront of our work in Congress.
Agriculture is the backbone of our state’s economy, and I am grateful for the progress we have made to strengthen this vital industry. In May, the House passed my Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailers Choice Act, marking a major victory in the fight for nationwide, year-round E15, which will strengthen markets for Nebraska corn growers, expand consumer choice, and strengthen rural economies. While the Senate still must act, I am confident Senator Fischer and Senator Ricketts will continue working to get this critical legislation to President Trump’s desk.
The House also passed our Farm Bill, an important step toward providing America’s farmers and ranchers with the certainty and support they need to continue feeding and fueling the world.
This summer, I worked with Senator Fischer to pass her Emergency Conservation Program Improvement Act, following one of the state’s largest wildfires in history. With thousands of acres burned, miles of fence line destroyed, and herds displaced during the summer grazing season, this legislation gives producers greater flexibility and faster access to the disaster relief they deserve. As producers continue the difficult work of rebuilding, the last thing they should face is unnecessary bureaucratic red tape.
As a senior member of the House Ways and Means Committee, I have also focused on delivering practical solutions that improve everyday life for Nebraska families. My Main Street Pharmacy Access Act would allow pharmacists to test and treat Medicare beneficiaries for common illnesses such as the flu, strep throat, and RSV. It’s a commonsense proposal that expands access to care—especially in rural communities—while reducing pressure on emergency rooms and other providers. The bill has already passed the Ways and Means Committee and now awaits consideration by the full House.
Earlier this month, we celebrated one year since the enactment of the Working Families Tax Cuts, landmark legislation that continues to benefit Nebraska families, small businesses, manufacturers, and agriculture producers. The law made historic investments in America's families by increasing the refundable portion of the Adoption Tax Credit to $5,000 to ease the financial burden of adoption so more children can grow up in safe, permanent homes. It also created Trump Accounts and a pilot program to provide a $1,000 investment for eligible children. Together, these initiatives give families practical tools to build a stronger financial future for the next generation.
Building on that success, I introduced the Trump Accounts for All Generations Act to permanently establish the $1,000 investment for eligible children while indexing it to inflation, helping more families build a stronger financial future.
Earlier this year, I supported the SAVE America Act to ensure that only American citizens determine the outcome of our elections. I will continue to support this legislation to protect the integrity of our elections and urge my Senate colleagues to send it to President Trump for his signature.
While we have made meaningful progress, there is still more work to be done. Delivering results for Nebraska doesn’t start in Washington—it begins by listening to the people I serve. During the August work period, I look forward to traveling across the Third District, hearing directly from Nebraskans, and continuing to fight for the policies that keep the Good Life the best place to live, work, and raise a family.
