Service to Nebraskans Comes First
We are working on many pressing issues in Congress, but one of the most important aspects of my role as your representative is helping Nebraskans navigate the federal government and ensuring they receive the assistance they need.
With a district covering 65,000 square miles, I am on the road quite a bit meeting with Nebraskans from Harrison to Falls City. To serve even more people throughout the Third District, members of my staff also host mobile offices and Caseworker in Your Community events.
So far in 2016, my office has hosted more than 60 of these open forums to assist Nebraskans in dealing with federal agencies, answer questions on issues related to the federal government, and help people take advantage of the services available through our office.
When Nebraskans visit Washington, D.C., my office is happy to help set up tours of popular landmarks from the U.S. Capitol to the White House. Please get in touch with us as early as possible to ensure we can submit your requests in time, answer your questions, and help you make the most of your trip.
We can also arrange for American flags to be flown over the U.S. Capitol to commemorate special occasions. Each flag is sold at cost and has an accompanying certificate which includes a short, personalized message and the date it was flown. Please contact my Washington, D.C., office to learn more about this service.
As your representative, it is always a pleasure to recognize achievements throughout the Third District. My Excellence in Economic Development awards celebrate the efforts of those who strengthen their communities through innovation, hard work, and entrepreneurship. Nominations for this year’s awards are due by July 1. Forms are available at my Grand Island and Scottsbluff offices as well as on my website at AdrianSmith.house.gov/EconomicDevelopment.
It is also a priority for me to help engage young Nebraskans in the political process. The Third District Youth Advisory Council is open to high school juniors and seniors who are interested in discussing their opinions, thoughts, and concerns with me about local and federal issues throughout the school year. Any rising juniors and seniors interested in applying are encouraged to visit my website at AdrianSmith.house.gov/YouthAdvisoryCouncil to learn more about the program. Applications for the 2016-2017 school year are due by July 6.
Additionally, my office offers internships in Washington, D.C., Grand Island, and Scottsbluff for college students who would like to learn about the legislative process firsthand. Applications are available on my website and accepted year-round.
To learn more about these opportunities, issues I am working on, and upcoming events in your area, I invite you to visit my website and sign up for my weekly e-newsletter at AdrianSmith.house.gov/Newsletter. Thank you for keeping in touch with me, and please continue to let me know how I can best serve you and Nebraskans throughout the Third District.
