Every year, when Congress adjourns for an extended district work period during August, I continue to take the opportunity to travel the district, hold meetings, and find out what is on the minds of Nebraskans across the Third District. This August I met with folks all across the district, from Auburn and Peru to Alliance and Scottsbluff, and many communities in between. I appreciated hearing their insights.

Everyone agrees agriculture is important to Nebraska and vital to the U.S. economy. This is why the tax code – and any efforts to reform it – should treat businesses and individuals engaged in farming and ranching to the same benefits as other business sectors across the country. You may be surprised to learn this is not a column about Obamacare. Instead, I am talking about a piece of legislation which has become known as “Obamacare for banks.”
