It is now nearly one month since the House passed its clean continuing resolution to keep open the federal government. On September 19, House Republicans did our job. We passed legislation which would have prevented—and still could immediately end—the shutdown. This funding bill has received bipartisan support in the Senate.

Washington, D.C. – This week, Reps. Adrian Smith (R-NE) and Burgess Owens (R-UT), Senators Bill Cassidy (R-LA) and Tim Scott (R-SC), and House Committee on Education and Workforce Chairman Tim Walberg (R-MI), sent letters to the governors of all 50 U.S. states and the mayor of the District of Columbia.

Meet Adrian

A Gering native whose family has called Nebraska home for six generations, Congressman Adrian Smith was first introduced to politics by his grandfather. Adrian’s his first encounter with government regulations was when he was a child running a snow cone stand, and he realized at a young age what overly restrictive government policies can do to American businesses.
