Smith Statement on September Unemployment Numbers
WASHINGTON, DC- Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) today released the following comment after the September unemployment rate was reported at 9.6 percent, representing the loss of 95,000 jobs.
"This is the 17th straight month with unemployment topping 9 percent. Failed policies from Washington are driving our nation into debt and stifling economic growth, and the American people know it. We need to take action to get people back to work. This means giving our small business owners the certainty they need to start hiring again by shelving the 2011 $3.8 trillion dollar tax hike and freezing government spending," Smith said.
