Smith Announces 2019 Congressional Art Competition Winners

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) today announced the winners of the 2019 Congressional Art Competition for the Third District of Nebraska.  
 
Artwork by the first place winner will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol. The runners-up will have their art displayed in Rep. Smith’s Washington, D.C., Grand Island, and Scottsbluff offices.  Smith worked with the Nebraska Art Teachers Association to coordinate the competition.  
 
"Congratulations to all of the student artists from across the Third District who presented their talents in this competition, as well as the teachers who have encouraged their creativity,” Smith said.  “I am excited to share the winners’ work with visitors to the U.S. Capitol and my offices in Washington, D.C., and Nebraska.”
  • First Place: “Copper Corn” by Dallas Rohde of Litchfield 
    • Litchfield Public Schools
    • Dallas’ work will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year.
  • Second Place: “Little Girl Drawing” by Gracie Hoyt of Mullen 
    • Mullen Public Schools
    • Gracie’s work will be displayed in Smith’s Washington, D.C. office.
  • Third Place: “Girl & Cello” by Brooklyn Liljehorn of Kearney 
    • Kearney Public Schools
    • Brooklyn’s work will be displayed in Smith’s Grand Island office.
  • Fourth Place: “Windmill Section Photo” by Rilee Howard of Mason City
    • Litchfield Public Schools
    • Rilee’s work will be displayed in Smith’s Scottsbluff office.
