Honoring Young Entrepreneurs
May 10, 2019
The future of our country depends on the development of young leaders who are willing to step up, take a risk, and make a better life for themselves and their community. In Congress, and especially through my role on the Ways and Means Committee, I want to create new opportunity and attract greater investment in our state for today’s and tomorrow’s generation of families, business leaders, and entrepreneurs. From expanding access to more markets for our exporters to removing burdensome taxes and regulations, we can encourage new ideas and innovation to grow the economy for everyone.
This year, I am excited to launch a new initiative to recognize the many contributions of Nebraska’s young entrepreneurs. The Excellence in Economic Development for Young Entrepreneurs award is a spinoff of my Excellence in Economic Development award and was created to celebrate the efforts of our new and rising leaders.
This award is designed to recognize young individuals, businesses, and organizations in the Third District who strengthen their communities through fresh ideas, hard work, and entrepreneurship. Nebraska’s Third District contains 75 counties of diverse and successful economic activity, and I want to make sure to highlight this in Washington, D.C.
Nominations for the 2019 Excellence in Economic Development for Young Entrepreneurs awards are due by June 21. Forms are available at my Grand Island and Scottsbluff offices as well as on my website at AdrianSmith.house.gov/EconomicDevelopment. If you have any questions about the program, please feel free to call my Grand Island office at 308-384-3900.
It is an honor to recognize those who strengthen our communities, and I look forward to reviewing this year’s nominees. The Excellence in Economic Development for Young Entrepreneurs award provides an opportunity to showcase Nebraskans who are working to make “The Good Life” even better for the future of our state. To all Nebraskans who work tirelessly to grow our economy, I will continue to support your efforts and pursue policies to get the federal government out of the way of your success.
